Pinarello Bolide F Time Trial Bike Gets Treated to “Whale” Technology

While some people may have added swimming with dolphins to their bucket list, cycling enthusiasts can now ride with the whales thanks to Pinarello’s revamped Bolide F time trial bike that features whale technology.

Drawing upon tubercules found on the flippers of Humpback whales, the new Bolide F utilizes AirStream AeroNodes and AirFoil sections along the seat tube and seat post, resulting in a claimed 2.8% reduction in drag over its predecessor, while longer AirFoil sections on the bottom bracket and wheel hubs further enhance the new TT bike’s aerodynamic signature.

Elsewhere, the Bolide sees a wider fork crown, increasing tire clearance from 28mm to 32mm, along with a small “fork flap chip” borrowed from the Dogma F to further streamline airflow behind the front axle. Stiffness has also been upped courtesy of reinforced fork legs and seat stays. Moreover, in order to eke out some more aero gains, the bike sees a revised aero bottle cage that’s been slightly repositioned.

The Bolide F will be available in four frame sizes, with complete builds and pricing to be announced.
