POC Unveils New Propel Sunglasses

POC has unveiled its latest sunglasses called the Propel, touting “enhanced aerodynamics and performance” thanks to its wide-view lens, special temples and a wrap-around design with side fairings that focuses on guiding air away from a rider’s ears.

“We know the world of performance cycling is about marginal gains, and every watt saved can make a difference,” explains POC’s head of eyewear, Tilda Håll. “We tested continually with CFD to research and fine-tune our ideas. The results led us to design the eyewear with the rider’s body and position in the forefront of our minds. The result is the most aerodynamic eyewear we have ever produced.”

“The result of CFD (computational fluid dynamics) testing, the Propel sunglasses introduce the concept of aerodynamic gains to eyewear. Shaped to sit close to the face and to help push air away from the ears, the new sunglasses use a trailing edge on each side of the lens for the effective management of airflow over the shoulders,” adds Håll.

The Propel features POC’s Clarity lenses to ensure vision is always at its sharpest, along with a choice of three different nose bridges in order to accommodate most face shapes, while the temples are fully adjustable in both length and grip to further enhance comfort.

The Propel sells for $250, which is offered in six frame colors with eight lens options, as well as a clear lens that comes with each pair.
