Rapha has unveiled its latest Pro Team cycling shoe, offering what the British brand describes as a “glove-like” fit thanks to the shoe’s unique woven, synthetic fabric called Powerweave.
According to Rapha, after experimenting with a number of available microfiber and knit fabrics, they decide to develop their own Powerweave, which comprises a matrix of both horizontal and vertical fibers to create a one-piece upper that significantly reduced stretch. Moreover, the polyester yarn that’s used in the Powerweave, combined with additional hydrophobic fabric, makes the shoe water-resistant, while fit comes courtesy of a twin-dial Boa IP1 retention system.
Other features that highlight the Pro Team Powerweave are a new full-length, uni-directional carbon sole for optimal stiffness and power transfer, as well as an in-molded TPU rubber toe protector and a replaceable rubber heel tread.
The new Pro Team Powerweave road shoe sells for £260, which is available in a range of sizes from 36-47, with half sizes from 40-46, along with color options in black, white and a dazzling purple and blue that’s currently being worn by the EF Education First team.
