Getting from A to B by bike just got a whole lot easier thanks to QuickNav, a new one-step navigation utility in the Ride with GPS mobile app. Whether heading to work, school, meetings, errands, or the grocery store down the street, simple trips across town are now that much simpler. QuickNav routes to your endpoint via bike-friendly, low-traffic roads and established cycling routes. This simple-yet-powerful utility elevates the Ride with GPS mobile app to a category all its own – ONE app that covers the entirety of your cycling navigation needs, from complex backcountry tours to quick trips across town.
Everyday Navigation Simplified
Open QuickNav by tapping the Record icon at the bottom of your Home screen. Use the Search bar to set your destination, address, or location or simply long-press anywhere on the map and QuickNav will then route to your destination, complete with mileage, elevation profile, and estimated time of your trip. Tap Start Ride and you’re on your way with turn-by-turn directions and personalized realtime ETA. Tapping the Search field will also give you the option to navigate an existing route from your library or directly to your Home location.
Home is Just a Tap Away
With your Home location set, QuickNav makes getting home incredibly easy. No matter where you are, simply tap the Search bar, select your Home location and QuickNav will automatically generate a bike-friendly beeline home.
Long-Press to Set Your Destination
QuickNav gets you there without the hassle. Long-press anywhere to set the endpoint and QuickNav does the rest. No address or details required. Simply long-press any location, landmark, business, or intersection you see on the map and you will be routed directly there by the most bike-friendly means possible.
Active Re-Routing in Real Time
QuickNav gives you the freedom to roam with automatic re-routing. Should you stray off course, QuickNav will simply update the routing from your current position as well as your ETA. This enables an entirely new level of flexible way-finding with no more ‘off course’ warnings as QuickNav will always course-correct from your current location.
Change Your Mind?
Sometimes plans change. Update your destination in real-time either by using the Search bar or long-pressing anywhere within your map viewport. Both methods will update your destination with a new endpoint and generate a new route while saving ALL of your current progress up to that point. You will never lose ANY of your activity progress or inadvertently break your ride into two separate entries. QuickNav intuitively rolls them in as they were ridden – as one single activity.
Live Activity Display
Additionally, QuickNav users on iOS (iPhone) will have access to Apple’s Live Activity display which delivers navigation and recording data above iPhone’s lock screen. This makes multitasking easier and more efficient, enabling nav cues directly over your iPhone’s lock screen. Apple Watch users will have the added benefit of QuickNav directional cues via the Ride with GPS companion app for Apple Watch. In both cases, this includes metrics like estimated time to completion, speed, mileage, distance, and a host of other interchangeable data points to keep your trips on track.
