RON has gone to great depths (yes, that was a pun) with its latest ULTRON 105 wheelset, which as the name applies, boasts a massively deep rim profile of 105mm, touting it as the fastest set of time-trialing hoops on the market.
According to RON, the ULTRON 105’s highly aerodynamic wave shape is designed to not only cut through the air efficiently but also provide excellent stability, even in crosswinds, while its wide 31mm external width when shod with 28mm to 30mm tires reduce rolling resistance and enhance comfort without sacrificing performance.
“This perfect balance of aerodynamics and stability makes it the ideal choice for cyclists aiming to maximize speed and control in demanding conditions, while the wave-leading edge technology further enhances the wheel’s aerodynamics. By managing airflow more efficiently, this design minimizes drag and improves overall performance. Elsewhere, the ULTRON 105 features RON’s lightweight hubs and Enduro ceramic bearings that are compatible with Shimano 10, 11 and 12-speed freehub bodies, as well as SRAM XDR.
All in, the ULTRON 105 weighs in at 1,880 grams (900 grams up front, and 980 grams at the rear), which sells for €2,499.
