Roval has launched two new wheelsets for the 2023 road and gravel season called the Alpinist SLX and the Terra CLX II.
The Alpinist SLX is the latest alloy version of the brand’s more costly carbon Alpinist CLX II, while the Terra CLX II wheelset represents Roval’s “lightest and most durable” edition of its ultra-premium gravel range.
Alpinist SLX
When first unveiled, the Alpinist CLX II marked Roval’s most advanced clincher wheelset to date, later paving the way for the brand’s more affordable alloy version, which features the same 6069 alloy rim (24mm deep) as the previous SLX rim, along with a newly developed shot-peen treatment that’s designed to increase fatigue life. The wheelset is further highlighted by new DT Swiss 350 hubs and Sapim spokes, while the overall weight has been reduced by 30 grams.
Specification:
Terra CLX II
Weighing in at just 1250 grams, the Terra CLX II are among the lightest in their class thanks to Roval’s new Low Flange Disc (LFD) hubs and lightweight a hooked rim, allowing tire ranging from 28mm to 47mm to be run with very little pressure.
Additionally, the Terra CLX II also uses the Roval’s LFD hubs that are laced with DT Swiss 180 hub internals and SINC ceramic bearings.
The Roval Terra CLX II wheelset sells £2,500, or separately for £1,050 for the front wheel and £1,450 for the rear, while the Alpinist SLX wheelset fetches £760.
