Shimano Debuts New IC1 Indoor Cycling Shoe

As the mercury continues to plummet, cyclists are making their way indoors in order to keep up their cycling regime.

Shimano heeds the call with the launch of its indoor specific 1C1 cycling shoe, a lightweight, highly breathable option that involves very little fuss thanks to its quick-drying mesh upper and single strap closure system.

“The cross strap closure travels across the toe box and reaches over the shoe’s instep. This holds the rider’s  foot firmly in place for hard efforts. The IC1’s upper wraps around the foot, adding arch support and a sock-like fit, in combination with the cross strap,” explains Shimano.

Perhaps most importantly, the 1C1 is compatible with virtually every pedal system including the Peloton Bike and the SoulCycle courtesy of a five-hole design that works with all two and three bolt cleats. The shoe is also fitted with a generous size heel pad, reducing the chances of slipping while traversing slick floors commonly associated with “spin studios”.

Additionally, the IC1 relies on a unisex design, wherein two different lasts are used to keep the fit consistent across all sizes for both men and women.

The 1C1 is available in sizes ranging from 36 to 50 for $90.00, which can be purchased directly from Shimano, or its authorized dealers.
