Mikel Landa won the 4th and final stage of this year’s Giro del Trentino in a mountain top finish ahead of Louis Meintjes, after the Basque rider surged ahead in the final 3 kilometers.
Today’s win marked Landa’s first professional victory since joining the WorldTour ranks in 2011.
Meanwhile, Cadel Evans secured the overall victory after distancing his closest rival, Domenico Pozzovivo, during today’s challenging finale. Indeed, the Italian rider lost five seconds to Evans during today’s stage. However, he still managed to hold onto second place in the overall classification with an 11 second margin over Przemyslaw – who rounded out the podium in third spot.
Last year’s podium finisher, Tiago Machado, lost ground during final kilometers of today’s stage – to fall back as far as sixth pace behind Fabio Duarte and Meintjes.
