Amgen Tour of California 2014 Women's Time Trial

Alison Powers won the women’s individual time trial event in this year’s Amgen Tour of Califorinia today, after beating Brianna Walle with a winning time of 27:20 – along the 20-kilometer course.

Walle finished 21 seconds slower than Powers, with Tayler Wiles (Specialized-lululemon) in third place, at 25 seconds back.

Former U.S. time trial champion Evelyn Stevens (Specialized) finished fourth, at 26 seconds down on the leader.

“When I previewed the course on Friday, I knew it was for me,” said Powers. “I’ve finished second here in the previous two tries. To win today and get the Amgen winner’s bear feels great.”

Carmen Small won yesterday’s opening stage of the Tour with victory in women’s circuit race in Sacramento.
