RAPHA TRAVEL & PINARELLO
This year Rapha Travel are journeying out to some of our favourite roads in the world, taking with them a fleet of special edition Pinarello Dogma Ks. When it came to refiguring their Tour de France-winning Dogma frame, Pinarello kept the celebrated Onda forks and asymmetrical construction, and added some length to the wheelbase and a couple extra degrees to the head- and seat-tube angles. What does this mean? Well, it’s a high-performance, world-class frame that’s made for comfort after hours in the saddle.
This is the same frame used by Team Sky in the Spring Classics, who gave notes and feedback for refinements to the 2014 model. We’ve chosen to partner with Campagnolo to equip the bikes with their iconic Record groupset, with wide gearing that’s perfectly suited to the mountains. Topped off with Campagnolo’s Shamal Ultra wheels, Continental tyres, and a Fizik finishing kit, the Rapha Travel bikes are amongst the best equipped in the world.
This is Rapha’s 10th year, and Pinarello helped us to mark this anniversary with a special paint scheme. One of Rapha’s key ideas, Ex Duris Gloria*, is printed in a tone-on-tone black above the seatstay, with the rest of the frame finished in Rapha’s hallmark colours.
The bikes are fully maintained and serviced by Rapha Travel’s mechanic, and we provided a Garmin that has been pre-programmed with the day’s route before every ride. The team help our guests find the right size and position on a variety of frame sizes and stem lengths, and fit their pedals. The bikes are equipped with highly regarded Fizik saddles, but you can bring your own should you feel the need to.
The Rapha Travel Pinarellos are available to our Retreat guests as part of their trip, and are also available for use on a Rapha Randonnée at an additional charge.
