Happy birthday to René Martens who was born on this day in 1955.
The Belgian rider is best known for winning the 1982 Tour of Flanders ahead
of Eddy Planckaert and Rudy Pavenage.
In addition, Martens is remembered for having won numerous, lesser known
one-day races of his era as well.
