Strava’s "Café Run" World Championships Mug

The Strava Café Run – hosted by Look mum no hands! and G!RO

The World Championships Road Race, which is happening this weekend, signals the beginning of the end of the season, when professional riders wind down, take stock and commit to the long dark months of winter training. It’s just the time of year for Strava’s Café Run…

September is when riders in the UK traditionally begin to think about hanging up their racing wheels and slowing down. For many, the highlight of the winter season is their club’s café run – a chance to chat with their mates, spin their legs, drink coffee and eat cake. It’s time to stop worrying about mileage and speed, and think about winter insulation!

To celebrate, Strava has teamed up with two of southern England’s best cycle-themed cafés – Look mum no hands! on Old Street in central London and G!RO in Esher, Surrey – and organised a coffee ride-mug-giveaway.

Between 26 September and 31 October, simply ride between the two and upload an Instagram photo picturing you at each café. Show both pictures to the staff and you’ll receive a free special-edition mug.

If you don’t know how to link your Instagram to Strava, here’s a guide. Once it’s set up, it’ll automatically display your ride-time pictures next to your Strava ride.

You can ride either from Look mum no hands! to G!RO, here is aroute doing exactly that, or the other way around like this, and perhaps combine it with an excursion into the famous Surrey Hills or a spin into Essex. But no need to take it too seriously. Just as good would be a short spin bookended by two nice coffees and baked goods. Catch up with some friends and get into the spirit of winter riding – and pick up a free mug while you’re at it.

We’ll feature some of the best photos on the @stravacycling Instagram – tag your photos and posts with #caferun. Look mum no hands! has a Strava club and Instagram, and G!RO’s Strava club is here and Instagram here.

The mugs are limited edition, and when they’re gone, they’re gone. Only one mug per person, and please play nicely by the rules!
