Wilier Launches Disc Brake Equipped Cento1 SR Road Bike

While the list of high end bike manufacturers offering disc brake equipped road bikes continues to grow, it should come as no surprise that the coveted Italian brand, Willer-Triestina, has joined the foray.

New from Wilier, is a disc brake version of their sought after their Cento1 SR road bike.

While the rear brake gets the internal routing treatment, the front brake hose is simply clipped to the back of the fork leg as it travels down to the front rotor. Wilier uses the same cable guide plate system from the original Cento1 SR in order to accommodate mechanical or electronic shifting systems, along with clean mounts for the batteries. The design also lends itself to better aerodynamics by tucking the barrel adjusters behind the down tube. Wilier also makes use of it’s exclusive high modulus, 60 ton carbon fiber in key areas in order to  keep the weight down and torsional strength up.

Similar to most road disc brake equipped bikes, the rear caliper is tucked between the stays which prevents the seat stay from needing to be braced against the chain stay which would impact ride quality. The rear end is spaced at 135mm which sits at the end of asymmetric chainstays. The bikes disc mounts are capable of running 140 or 160mm rotors.

The Cento1 SR Disc uses a BB386 bottom bracket design as well.

Unlike most disc brake equipped road bikes, Cento1 SR Disc uses an integrated seat mast in current Wilier fashion.  Offered in a frameset only, the disc brake Cento1 SR will cost the same as it’s cantilever designed counterpart, with sizes ranging from XS to XXL. Frame weight for the Cento1 SR Disc is quoted at 990g and 360g for the fork.

Wilier Triestina is on the leading edge of the next revolution in road cycling: disc brakes. The Cento1SR Disc doesn’t merely incorporate this technology, though. The world famous Cento1 platform is reinterpreted to take the highest advantage of all disc brakes have to offer. For a complete integration of hydraulic technology, Wilier Triestina completely redesigned the fork and rear triangle to accommodate the new braking system in the best way possible.

Combined with the already storied geometry and carbon technology from the Cento1SR platform, the Cento1SR Disc represents the pinnacle of technological innovation, pushing the limits of what was only dreamed of a short time ago.
