Alé has organized a special cycling trip and GranFondo event to celebrate cycling’s biggest icon, Eddy Merckx, called Alé la Merckx.
Lucky participants will ride through Italy’s historic Veneto and Prosecco regions, following medieval Sella Ronda route through the Dolomites which include the famous Passo Gardena, Passo Campolongo, Pordoi and Passo Sella, while also making stops in Verona and Vicenza.
In addition, the nine-day bike tour will treat participants to rides alongside ex pro riders, Pietro Caucchioli and Andrea Ferrigato.

Monday, June 5
Sleep: Vicenza | Meals: Dinner provided
This morning you will be picked up from Venice (Marco Polo Airport or Train Station) between 10 and 11am. Following a one hour transfer you will arrive to Vicenza, a UNESCO heritage listed city. We will check you into your hotel, prepare/fit the bikes and enjoy a 2 hour afternoon ride through the local Colli Berici region. Cycle the twisting and turning roads which over the last few years have been a favorite with Giro d‘Italia race organizers!
Tuesday, June 6
Vicenza – Monte Grappa

The cycling route from Vicenza to the medieval walled town of Castel Brando is an impressive warm up ride. You will ride through historic towns such as Marostica and Bassano del Grappa. Bassano del Grappa is the home of the famous Monte Grappa climb. This is an optional climb for those who would like to challenge themselves on a classic Giro climb! How will your time trial compare to Nairo Quintana or Vicenzo Nibali?

Castel Brando – Arabba

Today the ride enters the Dolomites via some initial touring and stunning scenery in the Trentino wine territory. The route takes you via Castel Brando – San Boldo – Colle Santa Lucia. From Castel Brando you pedal north before entering the famous Dolomites National Park. Today you will be cycling in the wheel tracks of legends.
Tuesday, June 8
Sella Ronda
One of the world’s most iconic cycling loops is on offer today: the Sella Ronda Loop! The Sella Ronda is a must for any cyclist who visits the towering Dolomites mountain region. There are 4 steps to become a member of the Sella Ronda club: Passo Pordoi, Campolongo, Sella and Gardena. Each pass provides views that will be etched into your memory for a lifetime. Our base in Corvara allows you the chance to relax, enjoy the scenery of the surrounding mountains or even get out the walking shoes and explore a little. If you would like to ride some more though, we will be ready to ride with you. Cycling options up to 100km are available including climb combinations of Fedaia, Pordoi, Giau and/or Falzarego!

Arabba – Verona

From the hotel downhill to Alleghe where we will start one of the most scenic climbs: Passo Fedaia through Serrai di Sottoguda an awesome natural canyon that rises up to the Marmolada glacier. When you cross the Fedaia Pass the fast descent will take you to Canezei and cross the Val di Fassa. After 2 hours transfer by Van you arrive in Verona the beautiful city famous for William Shakespeare’s play Romeo and Juliet and the famous Roman Arena.
Saturday, June 10
Verona
Easy Easy ride with the stars at less than 24h from the GF Alé La Merckx. In the afternoon you can enjoy the town and the expo before a relaxing massage. For dinner the best Italian pasta to recharge your energy before the race.

Wake up to a nice breakfast among your new bike friends. Share your Granfondo and Dolomites stories with them before heading home! An hour transfer to Venice Airport ends tour services.
