Basso has revamped its Astra road bike for 2023, increasing tire clearance up to 28mm for the tarmac, or as much as 35mm for light gravel duty, while also reducing frame weight to 980 grams, a respectable figure considering its entry-level status in the Italian brand’s range of road models.
“Can a racing bicycle be versatile and performing at the same time? Can it be the expression of a lifestyle, capable of enhancing it in any situation? At Basso they responded starting from the design. Astra is developed around people’s lives, to make it suitable for various occasions, even very different from each other. Its features are designed with a very specific purpose: to amplify the lifestyle of those who gets on the saddle, whatever their definition of cycling is,” boasts the storied Italian company.
In addition to increasing tire clearance and putting the Astra on a diet, Basso also incorporated its 3B Gen II seatpsot clamp system, along with two seatpost set-back options of -15mm or 0mm.
Other features include the option of Microtech’s All-Road handlebar and Basso’s own Paradigma stem/spacer system, as well as its Explorer Rear Axle set-up that comprises an integrated key that allows for the easy set-up and removal of wheels.
The Italian-made Astra is available as a frameset only for $2584, or as a complete bike, with four different build options that range from $4250 to $5900.
Customers can also choose from three stylish colorways: Pop Green, Camaleont and Gray Asphalt.
