CADEX Lifts the Curtains on New Max 40 Wheelset and Race GC Tires

CADEX has lifted the curtains on its latest tubeless-ready Max 40 wheelset, which tips the scales at a gravity-defying 1249 grams, an impressive feat for even squeezer-brake wheels let alone for a set of disc brake hoops.

As its name implies, the Max 40 features a 40mm rim profile, as well as an all-new hub and redesigned carbon spokes, which CADEX refers to as its “Super Aero Carbon Spokes”, wherein the spokes seamlessly integrated into a thin aero hub flange, resulting in best-in-class stiffness and power transfer.

“With the Max 40 WheelSystem we’ve designed the best all-rounder road wheel CADEX has ever produced,” says Jeff Schneider, Global Head of Product and Marketing for CADEX. “It’s a wheel that is equally at home in crosswinds as on steep mountain climbs. The 40mm rim depth and 22.4mm inner width land the perfect balance for a performance road wheel, adding stability and comfort with class-leading stiffness-to-weight to an ideal aero profile.”

According to CADEX, when tested against the Lightweight Obermayer EVO and Syncros Capital SL, the Max 40 exhibited 28.4% greater front wheel stiffness than the Lightweight Obermayer EVO and 10.3% more stiffness than the Syncros Capital SL, while the rear surpassed the Obermayer by 44.9% and the Capital SL by 20.8%. 

Elsewhere, the Max 40 features an inner rim diameter of 22.4mm, providing a copious amount of surface to accommodate some pretty beefy rubber.

Speaking of rubber, CADEX has launched a new 700×28 tire called the Race GC that’s designed to work alongside the Max 40, featuring a 240 TPI carcass combined with the brand’s Race Shield puncture protection technology that weighs in at a svelte 279 grams.
