Campagnolo has introduced updated versions of its BORA Ultra WTO and BORA WTO wheelsets, touting less weight, improved aerodynamics and a broader internal rim width in response to the ever-growing trend of wider tire applications.
“The BORA Ultra WTO and WTO celebrate 30 years of pro tour wins, the next-generation Bora Wheels have been enhanced in every aspect, offering superior performance through improved aerodynamic shapes and lighter weight. The new Campagnolo Bora is elevated through a refined design conceived for the most demanding cyclists, offering precise steering control that empowers riders to find their own line,” boasts Campagnolo.
Both new wheelsets feature Campagnolo’s distinctive G3 spoke pattern, along with a 23mm internal rim width that has been optimized for 28mm tires. Also, both models benefit from the Italian brand’s 2-Way-Fit system and Aero Mo-Mag technology with internal spoke nipples, while the Ultra WTO features Ceramic Ultimate Level Technology (CULT) bearings, as well as a new rear hub that’s given the same carbon fiber treatment as the rim itself. However, the standard WTO sticks with basic USB ceramic bearings.
Additionally, Campagnolo has designed a drop-shaped profile for the new BORAs, resulting in an improved airflow that’s 13% more efficient during headwinds and 80% when faced with 15-degree crosswinds.
In all, Campagnolos says it was able to reduce rim weight by 135 grams for both variants, with the Ultra WTO tipping the scales as little as 1,235 grams and 1,370 grams for the base WTO in 35mm profiles.
As one would expect, the new BORA WTOs don’t come cheap, with the Ultra fetching $4090, followed by the WTO at a still hefty $2790.
