Campagnolo no sooner raised the curtains on its revised Zonda wheelset last week, the iconic Italian brand presented glimpses of a new disc brake version of its popular mid-range wheelset today as well.
As one would expect, the Zonda DB features both Campagnolo’s Rim Dynamic Balance and MoMag technology, which does away with the need for spoke holes, and are laced using the brand’s inimitable Mega G3 lacing design (21 spokes front and rear).
Additionally, the Zonda DB’s feature Campagnolo’s traditional cup and cone bearing set-up, with new hubs comprised of either a 6 bolt or Centerlock system, which are compatible with both thru axles and quick release dropouts.
In the case of the front hub, it will be compatible with both 12 x 100 thru axles and standard 100mm quick releases, while the rear will make use of a 12 x 142mm thru axle spacing and utilize a special 135mm quick release axle for corresponding framesets.
No word on rim specifications however, or pricing at this time.
But, Campagnolo says the wheels should hit the market by fall.
As for the Bora Ultra disc wheel, Campagnolo claims to have both lightened and stiffened its venerable TT wheel by virtue of a new carbon fiber composition, along with its CULT ceramic hub bearings.
In the case of its new tubular version, Campagnolo claims to have reduced the weight by a whopping 111g.
Pricing, rim specs and availability – are to be announced.
