Canyon Overhauls Its Range of Commuter Bikes for 2021

Canyon has overhauled its range of commuter bikes for 2021, which now feature a semi step-through frame design for women thanks to a new D-shape downtube that transitions smoothly into the headtube, creating what the German brand calls “an elegant, flowing aesthetic“.

Moreover, a completely redesigned rear triangle now offers greater compatibility for kickstands and pannier racks, including Ortlieb’s QuickLock QL3.1 system on selected models, while mounts for integrated mudguards were also included in the design.

“The Commuter’s silhouette is super-clean thanks to internal cable and line routing through the downtube, and by running the front brake line through the fork. All models are equipped with disc brakes, and finally, a longer extension length lets the seatpost flex for additional comfort,” says Canyon.

The new range starts at £999 with the minimalist Commuter 5 that comes equipped with a Shimano Nexus 8-speed hub gearing with grip shift, while the Commuter 6 models feature the same components, along with Supernova lights, mudguards and a rear rack for £1,299.

In the case of the Commuter 7 and 8, the Nexus 8-speed hub is replaced with Shimano’s premium 11-speed Alfine internal hub shifting.

Lastly, all of the new models are fitted with a Gates belt drive system.
