Elegance and functionality come together with Civilized Cycles Model 1 electric bike, complete with a set of integrated panniers that can pull out to accommodate almost 50 pounds of cargo.
The Model 1 is powered by a choice of either a 350W, 500W or 750W drive system that Civilized Cycles claims offers twice the peak torque of a Bosch mid-drive motor, capable of propelling either two adults, or one audit and two children to a top speed of 20 mph (32 km/h) or 28 mph (45 km/h) via throttle only, or pedal-assist.
Additionally, the Model 1 can travel up 25 miles (40 km) on a single charge, thanks to its robust Lithium-ion battery that features two USB charging ports for powering devices, along with the optional of having a second battery pack.
To smooth out the terrain, the Model 1 is equipped with a Manitou full-suspension system, which is designed to automatically adjust to the weight of the rider, passenger and cargo, offering 80mm of travel up front and 60mm at the rear.
Elsewhere, the Model 1 is fitted with integrated headlights and taillights, with the former programmed to respond to oncoming headlights, while the latter serves as a brake light.
Stopping power comes courtesy of Tektro hydraulic disc brakes, along with controls that can be accessed via a Bluetooth app paired to a smartphone.
The first run of bikes is limited to just 40, which can be pre-ordered for $5,999, with an estimated delivery time of mid-summer.
