ENVE is in the process of launching its new Speed Release disc brake specific carbon fork, that’s designed to work directly with Mavic’s 12mm thru-axle Speed Release system.
WHAT IS IT?
ENVE says, “it’s the ultimate aftermarket disc brake specific road cycling fork featuring 32mm of tire clearance and solid 12mm thru-axle for secure and confident handling.”
WHO IS IT FOR?
“Discerning road cyclists and custom frame builders who demand the ultimate in carbon fiber fork construction and technology”, adds ENVE.
WHY DID ENVE MAKE IT?
The Utah-based brand says, “road cycling has evolved over the years and our preferences have shifted from rim brakes and low volume tires to disc brakes and high volume tires. As such, we needed to create a fork that matched these preferences while maintain the premium ride quality ENVE forks are known for. Traditional closed thru-axle drop out systems pose the problem of being both heavy and difficult for removing the wheel from the bike. The Mavic Speed Release system address these issues by providing the security of a closed drop-out thru-axle set-up, with the convenience and lightweight of a quick release.”
According to ENVE, the Speed Release fork will retail for $599, and will offer such features as compatibility with 140mm and 160mm flat mount disc brakes, available in rakes of either 43mm or 50mm and provide tire clearance from 23mm to 32mm.

The ENVE Road Disc Fork Speed Release Thru-Axle features Mavic’s Speed Release technology. Speed Release provides a light weight quick release thru-axle system that allows for quick wheel changes and consistent torque on the thru-axle so disc brake spacing will remain consistent across numerous wheel installations.
