Fizik Flaunts New Lightweight Vento Powerstrap Aeroweave Road Shoe

Fizik is flaunting its latest Vento Powerstrap Aerowave, touting it as their lightest road shoe to date thanks to a new open mesh construction, ultra-stiff R3 carbon sole and fully wrap-around velcro straps, tipping the scales at a scant 184 grams per shoe – sans the insole.

“The pursuit of reducing weight and increasing ventilation while maintaining support and protection led our designers and engineers to develop an entirely new material: Aeroweave. Now in its second generation, Aeroweave woven fabric interlaces nylon fibers with filaments of thermoplastic polymers for an even lighter shoe that doesn’t lose its original tenacity, providing the strength and support required in competition,” boasts Fizik.

Ventilation was also an important consideration when developing the new shoe, which features two large air vents at the front to provide optimal airflow, while recessed, moveable channels ensure proper cleat positioning.

“The Vento Powerstrap Aeroweave also features an entirely new outsole, the R3, engineered with an updated carbon fiber layup and new design to save weight without compromising stiffness. With an index of 10, the R3 is a stiff outsole providing optimal power transfer. Two wide vent inlets and deep internal channeling enable a cooling airflow, contributing to temperature management. Aligned with the latest bike fitting trends, the R3 outsole offers a recessed cleat positioning, the same as all of the most recent Fizik models, to optimize pedaling efficiency and reduce knee compression, especially well suited to very aggressive, forward aero positions,” adds the Italian brand.

The Vento Powerstrap Aeroweave is available in sizes ranging from 37 to 47, with half sizes in 36 and 48, which sells for $380, while colors have been limited to striking Coral and traditional white.
