Fizik has introduced two new flagship models to its range of road shoes called the Vento Inifinito Carbon 2 and the Infinito Knit Carbon 2, adopting what the Italian brand says, “less-is-more approach, removing all that is unnecessary in the pursuit of victory.”
According to Fizik, the main feature of both models is the new R2 sole, which comes with a stiffness index of 10.
“The R2 is an entirely new outsole with an engineered carbon fiber layup that saves weight and delivers increased stiffness, along with a wide vent inlet and deep internal channelling that provide a cooling airflow, aiding in temperature regulation,” says Fizik.
Ergonomically speaking, Fizik also points out how they decided to reposition the cleat holes further back this time, expressing the belief that having the cleats further back offers a number of performance and fit advantages.
“Our new cleat positioning optimizes pedaling efficiency and reduce knee compression, as well as being especially suited to very aggressive, forward aero positions,” claims Fizik.
Additionally, both models retain the same dual BOA retention system, albeit with the brand’s new updated Li2 dials, while an upper control strap anchors the arch, quoting “this piece wraps around the plantar arch and can be precisely adjusted for a perfect fit and improved support of the plantar fascia.”
Forefoot retention is accomplished via a separate dial, along with lacing that’s similar to the previous Infinito model.
The Infinito Knit Carbon 2 features the same attributes as the Veneto Infinito Carbon 2, but differentiates itself by using an advanced knit fabric that saves weight and increases ventilation.
The $380 Infinito Knit Carbon 2 has a claimed weight of 225g per shoe, which is available in sizes 36 to 48 with half sizes in 37-47, while colors are limited to black and coral.
The $350 Vento Infinito Carbon 2 weighs in slightly more at 227g per shoe, offering the same range of sizes while color options are spread across black, white/black and gray/coral.
For those looking to accessorize, Fizik also offers a limited edition t-shirt ($30) that highlights the race-winning success Infinito shoes have had over the years.
