Fulcrum Flaunts New Lightweight Speed 25+ Wheelset

As a sequel to its Speed 25 wheelset, Fulcrum is flaunting an even lighter-weight version aptly dubbed the Speed 25+, making them the lightest set of hoops on offer from the Italian brand, tipping the scales at a feathery 1,270 grams.

“Following in the footsteps of its predecessor, the Speed 25 now takes on the plus moniker, indicating the pinnacle of Fulcrum’s range, becoming the lightest low-profile option for disc brakes ever produced. Inspired by the Racing Light XLR, the Speed 25+ is the perfect choice both for steep alpine climbs and for long distances, thanks to the safe and precise ride feel that only low-profile wheels can provide. Compared to the Speed 25 the weight has been dropped down to 1270 grams and they integrate the best Fulcrum technologies, for an astounding set of wheels in terms of lightness and handling, without compromising reliability (ASTM 1 – System weight limit: 120kg),” boasts Fulcrum.

Designed with climbing in mind, the Speed 25+ features a hooked rim that’s 26mm deep, along with an inner width of 21mm, making them ideally suited for tubeless setups with tires up to 28mm.

Elsewhere, the Speed 25 + is treated to Fulcrum’s CULT (Ceramic Ultimate Level Technology) ceramic bearings and Cup & Cone system, ensuring optimal smoothness and long-term efficiency. Moreover, smoothness is further enhanced by a ceramic treatment that’s found on all surfaces that come into contact with the hub’s internals.

The freewheel body is completely new as well, which features a lighter version that results in less friction at play courtesy of USB-type ceramic bearings inside the body.

Depending on the free-hub body, prices for the new Speed 25+ range from $2,955 to $2,967, which are available XDR, N3W and HG formats.
