Gaerne has launched an updated version of its mid-level G.Tornado road shoe, treating it to a new upper, two different carbon sole options, an all-new integrated anti slip heel-cup and a single Boa L6 retention system.
“The G.Tornado shoe is ideal for those looking for a functional and rich in technical content from the best use of both the race and in training. It is a very light shoe (273 gr), the upper is soft microfiber laser perforated to provide excellent breathability,” says Gaerne.
In the case of the upper, Gaerne does away with the old mesh venting and replaces it with laser-cut perforations, increasing both comfort and ventilation throughout the shoe.
The two sole options offer a choice between the Italian brand’s standard EPS Carbon Power sole, which features a nylon reinforced composition that gives it a stiffness rating of 8.0, while cleat adjustment has been increased by 9mm compared to the outgoing design.
For an up-charge, customers can opt for the EPS Light Weight Full Carbon sole that bumps the stiffness index up to 10.0.
There are also two “air channels” that provide additional airflow, along with rubber inserts at the front and rear edges of the sole to aid with walking and provide increased protection.
The G.Tornado is available in a wide-range of sizes from 39 to 48, with half sizes in 42.5, 43.5, 44.5 and 45.5, along with a choice of blue, black, white and orange colors.

Sole: The full carbon sole “EPS Lightweight Full Carbon Sole 10.0” guarantees absolute lightness and rigidity. The ultra-thin thickness of the carbon allows the foot to be positioned at a minimal distance from the pedal, thus allowing maximum power whilst pedaling without loss of energy. Two channels positioned in the sole ensure perfect ventilation to the foot during use. Non-slip rubber inserts in the front and back of the sole provide security whilst walking. The rear insert is replaceable. The sole is compatible with all clipless pedals.
