Premium fabric, excellent attention to detail and great style are terms typically reserved for describing only high-end cycling apparel, but in the case of Garneau’s moderately priced IceFit 2 jersey, those accolades certainly apply. Indeed, had I not known ahead of time, I would have thought the jersey belonged to one of the Canadian brand’s upper end collections.
The IceFit 2 actually belongs to Garneau’s #ReclaimTheRoad collection, which features the company’s Icefil fabric that’s designed to keep the rider cool, while 360-degree reflective details have been added to the jersey in order to enhance visibility while traversing the urban landscape in low-light conditions.
“Leave the heat of the office behind when you sneak out for a post-work ride in the Icefit 2 Jersey. Cooling mesh and Icefil fabric are sure to keep the heat at bay and you can say goodbye to cutting your training rides short because of the fading light, thanks to the 360-degree reflective details which are designed to enhance visibility”, says Garneau.
Other features such as a full-length zipper, silicon waist and arm grippers and three rear pockets that are large enough to carry a sizable stash of energy bars, gels, tools, an MP3 player or smartphone, further add to the jersey’s versatility.
However, despite the jersey’s generous “cut” and utilitarian role, the IceFit 2 still posses enough flair that one could easily don it during a fast club ride or even a race and easily look the part. And, that’s precisely how I wore it for most of the time – riding and racing with the “group” throughout a mix of weather conditions.
Not only did the IceFit 2 perform admirably, equally important the jersey held up, emerging from one washing after the other with both its color and construction perfectly intact. And, that’s not something that I can say about most jerseys. But, this is the level of quality discerning cyclists have come to admire about Garneau apparel.
The IceFit 2 jersey is available in white, light blue, black and black/grey in six sizes ranging from Small to 3XL, which retails for $90.00.
Highly recommended for the stylish urban cyclist all the way to the serious roadie who’s looking for a more comfortable fit and versatility than the average race jersey provides.
