A belated happy birthday to Giovanni Brunero, who was born on October 4, 1895, and died on November 23, 1934.

The Italian rider is best remembered for winning the Giro d’Italia three times, along with three victories in the five monuments of cycling.

Indeed, Brunero won the 1921 Giro d’Italia ahead of Gaetano Belloni and Bartolomeo Aymo of Italy, and the following year ahead of Bartolomeo Aymo and Giuseppe Enrici of Italy.

In addition, he also won the 1926 Giro d’Italia in front of Alfredo Binda and Arturo Bresciani of Italy.

Brunero was 2nd in the 1923 Giro d’Italia behind Costante Girardengo of Italy, and finished 2nd again in the 1927 behind Alfredo Binda of Italy.
