Giro Unveils New Imperial Cycling Shoe

Giro has unveiled its latest road shoe called the Imperial, which features a new Synchwire upper and twin-Boa closure system.

According to Giro, its Synchwire upper comprises mesh reinforced monofilament combined with Teijin, which is a thermal-welded, thermoplastic polyurethane material, to extol the benefits of both durability and ventilation, while the twin-BOA IP1 and soft lace closure system provide excellent adjustment and fit.

The Imperial is further highlighted by Easton’s EC90 SLX2 high modulus carbon-fiber plate for excellent stiffness-to-weight, resulting in a shoe that tips the scales at a feathery 215g.

Giro also uses its Super Natural Fit footbed system with a customizable arch support, to further enhance comfort.

“To make a full-featured cycling shoe that rivals minimalist design in weight, we created the Imperial road shoe, which features our own ultralight monofilament Synchwire mesh upper that fits and feels like a second skin,” says Giro.

The Imperial is available in sizes ranging from 39 to 48, with half sizes in 42.5, 43.5, 44.5 and 45.5, as well as three colorways for $425.00.
