The south Florida based, Miracle Point Agency, announced its plans to host a Gran Fondo event in Havana, Cuba, which will take place on October 23-25.
The Grand Fondo Tour Cuba, will include a criterium and a gran fondo, with U.S. support from Sunlite and Origin8.
The gran fondo ride is a 60-mile, police-escorted ride from Malecon to the Port of Mariel through Havana. The Malecon (officially titled “Avenida de Maceo”) is a broad promenade, roadway and seawall which stretches for 5 miles along the coast of Havana next to the Caribbean.
A variety of travel options are being offered.

GRAN FONDO TOUR CUBA will be taking place in Havana, Cuba, October 23, 24, and 25 of 2015 and it will consist of two events in one. The first event is a 48 miles/ 77.2 km race on Saturday October 24th in a secured closed criterium in the famous Malecon and Must have USAC or UCI license to participate. The second event is a 60 miles/97 km police escorted GRAN FONDO TOUR on Sunday October 25th from Malecon to Port of Mariel. The GRAN FONDO TOUR will included medical personnel, police presence and support vehicles allowing participants to ride through Havana and explore the local atmosphere and the breathtaking scenery that this Caribbean island has to offer in a safe and secured way .
The Malecon (officially Avenida de Maceo) is a broad esplanade, roadway and seawall which stretches for 5 miles (8 km) along the coast in Havana, next to the Caribbean Sea. Due to its unique characteristics, the Malecon, provides outstanding features for this race including area, pace, scenery, and a local taste of the island to name a few. Cyclists from USA, Cuba, and Panama are only a few of the countries that have been captivated by this opportunity to participate adding a promising element for a unique competitive group.
