The remedy can be as quick and simple as spraying lube on your cleats and pedal bodies, or a bit more complex, which can involve re-greasing your pedal bearings or pedal threads where they sit in the crank. One last resort can be to tighten and grease the cleat bolt threads. And while you’re at it, it might be a good chance to replace your worn cleats.
