Hutchinson is touting the new Blackbird Race as its “fastest ever” tubeless tire, claiming a 10% reduction in rolling resistance over the current Blackbird, while also reducing weight by a claimed 46 grams in a size 700×28.
According to Hutchinson, both weight reduction and improved rolling resistance were achieved via a new “rubberized fabric” that trims as much as 23% from the center tread, while also maintaining excellent puncture resistance.
Elsewhere, the Blackbird Race features an updated tread compound the Hutchinson calls “Mach Tread Ultimate”, which builds upon the French brand’s previous Mach Tech 3.0 compound.
The Hutchinson Blackbird Race sells for $86.00, which is available in sizes 700×28 or 700×30 with black sidewalls only.
Additionally, Hutchinson offers an all-season variant aptly called the Blackbird All Season, comprising a tread that’s 2.1mm thicker alongside Gridskin sidewall protection in sizes 700×28, 700×30 and 700×32 for $54.00.
