J.Laverack Teams-Up with Aston Martin on Special Edition Road Bike

The boutique British brand, J.Laverack, has teamed-up with Aston Martin to create a special edition road bike aptly dubbed the J.Laverack Aston Martin .1R, which features a fully integrated “visually boltless” design that’s constructed with a blend of 3D-printed titanium lugs and carbon fiber tubes, showcasing fabrication techniques typically found only on F1 cars.

“Working with the team at Aston Martin has unlocked new ideas and innovations, the application of which has created a bicycle more advanced than anything currently available on the market. Working in collaboration with Aston Martin we have not only taken our titanium bicycles to new heights but have also unlocked true innovation within the cycling industry, creating a bicycle with unparalleled levels of craftsmanship and performance engineering. Every component is designed to be part of the whole and to marry perfectly with the adjoining elements, achieving an unsurpassed degree of integration, which lays the foundation for the J.Laverack Aston Martin .1R’s boltless design,” explains Oliver Laverack, co-founder of J.Laverack Bicycles.

“The J.Laverack Aston Martin .1R is essentially a titanium hypercar on two wheels,” boasts Marek Reichman, executive vice president and chief creative officer at Aston Martin. “The simple, clever genius is how we’ve fused the engineering advancements throughout the bike with a purity of performance design to deliver a viscerally exhilarating riding experience. The result is a distinctive form, born through tradition and technology and handcrafted using only the most advanced materials, befitting the pedigrees and forward-thinking natures of our two iconic British companies.”

Even the bike’s brakes are fully integrated, comprising four piston calipers, allowing all of the cables to be internally-housed as well, resulting in a clean aesthetic that Laverack describes as “obsession to detail beyond compare”.

Elsewhere, the .R1 is treated to a special edition C13 saddle commissioned from Brooks, along with AERA Components’ Æ|55 carbon wheelset, which features a 55mm profile. Customers are also able to choose from three 12-speed groupsets: Shimano Dura-Ace Di2, Campagnolo Super Record Wireless or SRAM RED eTap AXS.

The bespoke process continues from there, wherein customers are invited to Aston Martin’s headquarters in Gaydon, UK, for a full bike fitting with J.Laverack.

There, clients are given the opportunity to fine-tune their bikes, encompassing everything from frame geometry, to the selection of components down to the finest detail, including J.Laverack’s custom, 3D-printed one-piece Sphyr handlebar and stem.

For even more individuality, customers can select from a wide-range of Aston Martin colors and trims, or they can opt for a raw carbon finish to show off the beauty of the material, while the bottom bracket cups, brake calipers and brake disc centers can also be customized with either a bronze or muted black ceramic coating.

Lastly, each bike gets delivered in an aluminum or carbon case that can double as a travel box, along with a matching pump and an artisan tool kit.

What’s the price?

As the saying goes, “if you have to ask, then you can’t afford it”. So, suffice to say, the J.Laverack Aston Martin .1R will set you back a considerable wage.
