Look has revamped its Keo Blade pedals, touting them as the “fastest, most comfortable and durable” version to date courtesy of a new frontal profile that’s 2% more aerodynamic and a 60% easier “clip-in rotation” thanks to an improved weight balance.
“All the data we collected in the wind tunnel showed that this new pedal has better aerodynamics than all our competitors, even the most well-known, the Wahoo Speedplay Aero,” claims Look’s Alexandre Lavaud.
“We have rebalanced the products. The metal springs on other pedals are a certain weight that makes it easier for the pedal to tilt [when you’re not clipped in]. But the Keo Blade is a really light component and very centered on the pedal, so we have overbuilt the rear of the pedal body to reduce the torque of rotation and make it easier to clip in,” he adds.
The new pedals also eliminate an outer end cap, resulting in the spindle that’s now fully shielded by the pedal body, so no water or dust can enter.
“The latest design incorporates features to resist water intrusions, such as a new spindle design, internal and external dual-sealed bearings, and a re-formulated long-lifespan water-resistant grease,” says Look.
Elsewhere, the updated Keo Blade sees a three-part steel contact surface area rather than the single plate across the middle of the body, while the blade itself can still be swapped out for different tensions ranging from 8Nm to 20Nm.
Additionally, all pedals retain the same total stack height of 14.8mm as their predecessors.
Still made in Look’s factory in France, the new Keo Blade pedals are offered in the following three guises:
Keo Blade
Keo Blade Ceramic
Keo Blade Ceramic Ti
