LOOK Revamps 795 BLADE RS Road Bike for 2021

LOOK has revamped its flagship 795 BLADE RS aero road bike, boasting improved handling, more comfort and better aerodynamics for 2021.

According to the iconic French brand, the revamped 795 BLADE RS frameset sheds 300g over its predecessor, bringing the weight down to just 1000g for a size medium, thanks to a new fabrication process that comprises 63% more higher modulus carbon fibers – double that of the outgoing model.

LOOK also points out, that the reduction in weight is the result of its Extended Polystyrene (EPS) technology, where instead of having one single mold for each frame size, the EPS process requires two molds: one for the outer shape of the frame and one for the inner. A layer of carbon fiber fabric is then draped over a hard polystyrene form before being removed, which eliminates any folds, porosities and areas of weakness in the carbon.

Additionally, in order to reduce the 795 BLADE RS’s aerodynamic signature, LOOK put the bike through extensive wind-tunnel testing, optimizing everything from the frameset itself, to each and every component on the bike.

Even the choice of seatstays received special attention, with LOOK ultimately choosing to incorporate its “3S Design”, providing the requisite amount of “flex” for rear triangle under force. This translates into the rear wheel not losing contact with the road, resulting in better power transfer and increased traction, as well as comfort.

When it came to stopping power, LOOK was wise to realize that there are two schools of thought when it comes to brakes. Therefore, the revamped 795 BLADE RS is available in both disc and rim brake variants. But, LOOK is quick to point that the disc brake version offers a greater sense of security and control during steep descents, challenging corners and wet riding conditions, while also allowing for the application of wider tires  – up to 30mm.

In ether case, both the disc and rim brake versions are compatible with all mechanical and electronic groupsets, while full cable and hose integration comes courtesy of LOOK’s fully adjustable aero-cockpit system.

Another feature that highlights the revamped 795 BLADE RS is a pressfit TOKEN NINJA threaded BB386 bottom bracket that’s compatible with both 24mm and 30mm axles, whereby an aluminum sleeve fitted inside the frame ensures a perfect alignment.

To make the 795 BLADE RS accessible to all enthusiasts, LOOK has spread the bike across a number of different “builds” leading up to the the top-tier SRAM Red Etap AXS equipped model, while the frameset can be purchased alone for $4,000.
