ENVE’s soon-to-be-released one-piece aero handlebar was spotted on Tadej Pogačar’s Colnago V4Rs at the start of this week’s Tour de France.
As a new equipment sponsor to the UAE Team Emirates team, the bar is an adaptation of ENVE’s existing SES Aero Road Handlebar (which Pogačar has been using since the beginning of the season), with certain geometry tweaks based on his input.
The project began in January, with the final bar delivered to the team in little over 4 months, relying on same In-Route internal routing design as found on ENVE’s Melee and MOG road and gravel bikes, with hydraulic hoses passing through the handlebar and stem before being routed through a cover above the upper headset bearing.
According to ENVE, they’re also working with other frame manufacturers to 3D-print top bearing covers for greater compatibility with its IN-Route internal cable system.
“At the time of consumer launch later this year there will be compatibility with a number of frame manufacturers,” says ENVE.
Details are still forthcoming, but ENVE says the new handlebar will be available for sale later this summer, along with headset covers, with pricing to be announced.
