Officina Battaglin is celebrating its namesake, cycling luminary Giovanni Battaglin, with a limited edition road bike dubbed the 1984, marking the 40th anniversary of his retirement from the pro peloton.
“The 1984 is a tribute to the unforgettable moments of my father’s racing career. We wanted to create something that reflects the passion and artistry of that era, but with a design that today’s riders will love,” says Alex Battaglin, CEO of Officina Battaglin.
The 1984 is based on Battaglin’s Portofino frameset, which features a traditional lugged-steel construction and the Italian brand’s signature Cromovelato finish – with you guessed it, rim brakes.
Limited to just 12 framesets, the 1984 frameset fetches 4636€, while complete bikes bedecked with a Campagnolo Super Record 12-speed mechanical groupset, Bora WTO 45 carbon wheels and a Deda Superleggera cockpit can be had for 10,967€.
