Smoke must have really been billowing from the stack at Pinarello’s headquarters in Lancenigo, Italy today, as the iconic Italian brand no sooner announced the election of its latest X Series, news of an updated range of F Series bikes was also announced.
Already topping Pinarello’s range of road bikes, the updated F Series benefits from cleaner lines courtesy of new tube shapes and profiles, not only giving the bikes a sleeker aesthetic, but presumably greater wind cheating capabilities as well.
Most noticeably, the top tube is now flatter at the junction of a revamped hourglass-shaped head tube, mitigating what some viewed as an unsightly bump, while the seat tube wedge has been given a 3D-printed titanium treatment, resulting in a 36 gram reduction in weight.
Clearance has also grown on the F Series, creating enough room for 700×30 tires thanks to a slimmer seat tube and seat stays.
Other noticeable features include a custom battery mount for electronic drivetrains that now slots in next to the BB, along with fully internal hose and cable routing.
All in, Pinarello claims it was able to reduce the frame weight of the F9 and F7 to 950 grams, while the entry-level F5 still tips the scales at a respectable 990 grams, relying on T900 and T700 carbon fiber, respectively.
The F9 is offered in Razor White, which comes equipped with a choice of either a Shimano Dura-Ace Di2 or SRAM Red AXS groupset.
The F7 is available in two colors, Razor Red and Razor Black, with a choice between a Shimano Ultegra Di2 or SRAM Force AXS drivetrain.
The F5 comes in a choice of Impulse Blue or Impulse Grey, which comes fitted with either Shimano 105 Di2 or Ultegra mechanical components and Fulcrum Racing alloy wheels.
