Since re-entering the bicycle tire market, Pirelli has launched a repetition of new and innovative tires over the last couple of years or more. So, it only makes sense that the storied Italian tire maker would turn its attention to developing equally high performance inner tubes.
Indeed, Pirelli has unveiled its new SmartTUBE inner tubes, which feature the same technology found in the brand’s latest tubular tires, comprising thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) that’s 70% lighter and 50% more compact than traditional butyl inner tubes.
“Our new SmartTUBE inner tubes reduce the rotating mass where it counts the most (wheels), making your bike livelier and quicker in accelerations to help improve your handling and climbing speed and they save space in your pockets (or bags), so that you can carry more food and ride longer,” boasts Pirelli.
The SmartTUBE inner tubes are available in a comprehensive range of sizes that include Road (P ZEROTM SmarTUBE), MTB (Scorpion SmarTUBE) and a reinforced version for Gravel and Endurance applications (Cinturato SmarTUBE).
The inner tubes are available for $36.90, which are fitted with 60mm Presta valves to work with a majority of rim depths.
