In addition to the jerseys for the winners and classification leaders of the Tour de France and the Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift, Santini will be celebrating this year’s French Grand Tour races with a new collection of dedicated apparel that spans jerseys, vests, bib shorts, caps, socks and gloves.
Tour de France Stages Collection
The first addition to the collection is the Gran Départ that’s dedicated to Bilbao, with colors chosen for the garments that give a nod to th Basque flag colors of green, red, and white, along with mixed with symbols of the territory, such as the Basque cross or the profile of local monuments, both of which are featured in the design. Also, there’s the number 110, signifying the 110th edition of the Tour de France, and the word “Euskadi”, the Basque name for the region.
The seventh stage will start from Mont de Marsan to Bordeaux, a city that gives its name to the Santini outfit dedicated to this stage: the namesake color, the same as the red wine famous in these vineyard areas, and the fluid movement of wine poured into a glass characterize the design of the garments.
The Puy de Dôme, the sleeping volcano in France, is the protagonist of the ninth stage of the Tour de France 2023, a climb that witnessed the historic duel between Jacques Anquetil and Raymond Poulidor in the stage Brive-La-Gaillarde – Puy de Dôme during the 1964 Tour. That moment became iconic precisely because of this “elbow to elbow” challenge, as documented in the newspapers of the time. The photo of that moment was on the cover of L’Equipe and it’s the background of the jersey dedicated to the ninth stage of the Tour 2023. The colors chosen for this kit are blue and yellow.
Stage 17 of the Tour de France 2023 is a massive mountain stage: it starts in Saint-Gervais-Mont Blanc and arrives in Courchevel, at an altitude of 2,010 meters. One of the most renowned ski resorts, Courchevel, is located in the French department of Savoie, and the very colors of the ski slope classification (green, blue, red, and black) are used to create a pattern on the Santini garments dedicated to this stage.
To tell the story of the magic of the last stage of the Tour de France and celebrate the arrival on the Champs-Élysées and the Place L’Étoile, Santini created the Triumph kit. The shape of the square inspired the design of the garments: the square is central to the many streets that spread out from the center of it like the rays of a star. The colors selected are those of the French tricolor flag, and the yellow details are a callback to the Grande Boucle.
Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift Stage Collection
In addition to the replicas of the four leader jerseys for the Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift athletes, Santini is making a women’s kit that’s dedicated to the stage week of the 2023 edition that will end on the Col du Tourmalet. An ascent is among the most iconic of the Tour de France; this climb over the French Pyrenees has appeared since 1910. At the top of the pass, besides the statue of Octave Lapize, there is a small bar with a “stepped” roof, and its unique shape was used to create the design of the kit.
The Santini collection dedicated to the Tour de France and the Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift is available at www.santinicycling.com and in selected cycling stores worldwide.
