Shimano Shows-Off Limited Edition “Cactus Berry” RX8 Gravel Shoe

Drawing inspiration from the dessert landscape, Shimano has given its RX8 gravel shoe a limited edition colorway for 2020 called Cactus Berry

“The inspiration for this colorful design came from a gravel ride near my house where I was blown away by the beauty of a Santa Rita Prickly Pear Cactus on the side of the trail,” explains Jessie Gascon, Shimano’s Lifestyle Gear Product Manager.

Like the standard RX8, the limited edition model also features a super-stiff full-length carbon outsole (Shimano gives a stiffness rating of 10 out of 11) and an equally rigid heel stabilizer, while minimal TPU lugs, micro toe armor and an anti-slip pad provide walkability and protection.

Additionally, the cleat-pedal interface features a wider contact point that’s optimized to fit with Shimano’s XTR PD-M9100 pedals.

All of this comes in a lightweight package at 265g (size 42), which is significantly lighter than Shimano’s premium S-PHYRE XC9 mountain bike shoes.

The RX8 sells for $250.00, and the limited edition Cactus Berry will be available in September.

If you’re after something a little less inconspicuous, the RX8 will still be available in black and silver, as well as navy for the women’s version.
