SRAM has updated its Force AXS groupset, giving it not only a new Unicorn Grey iridescent laser foil finish, but reshaped HRD Shift-Brake hoods, a redesigned front derailleur and new integrated chainrings as well. And, for those wanting more bling, SRAM also offers a Rainbow-colored cassette and chain.
“We optimized the Force AXS hood shape to provide increased finger wrap for more hand sizes, so you can stay secure sprinting for town lines, committing to the rut in a muddy cyclocross race, or chattering down a long gravel descent,” says SRAM.
Additionally, SRAM has also added the option of a crank-based power meter.
“Our lightest, stiffest, and most accurate integrated power meter and chainring combo is now on Force. Quarq D-Zero technology is accurate to +/-1.5% and isn’t affected by temperature changes, and the consistent 13-tooth gap on the rings ensures fast and reliable shifting. The power meter on the new Force AXS 2x chainring sets are fully integrated with the chainrings for the lowest possible weight and the highest possible accuracy. However, these integrated chainrings are made for extreme longevity to greatly extend the life of the ring and power meter assembly. Also, regular chain cleaning, lubrication, and timely replacement when worn will greatly improve the lifespan of the chainrings,” explains SRAM.
In order to keep the batteries better topped-off, SRAM has also introduced a new USB-C powered Four Battery Charger, which they claim can fully charge four batteries in 60-minute, even less time for one of two.
All in, SRAM says the updated 2x groupset, including the power meter, weighs in at 2,896g, a slight reduction in weight over the previous generation that tipped the scales at 2,990g.
The Force AXS comes complete with shifter/brakes, rotors, crankset, chain, cassette, derailleur (front and rear for 2x, rear only for 1x), batteries and charger, while bottom brackets are sold separately.
