State Bicycle Co. has partner with Phil Gaimon to develop the latest generation of its Road frameset, which now features wind cheating updates such as new aero-shaped tube profiles, full internal routing and enough clearance to accommodate tires up a hefty 32mm.
“With this Carbon Road, we’re trying to blur the lines between ‘entry level’ and real performance. Phil joked that he thinks Tadej could win the Tour on this frame, and that’s exactly the point. This bike wouldn’t be out of place, built with SRAM Rival as a killer ‘starter’ carbon road bike, and then you look up, and you’ve got our sponsored guys building the same frameset with SRAM Red or Shimano Dura-Ace and going out there setting records. We want to cast a wide net with this one…let more people experience what it feels like to own a really nice road bike. At the end of the day, State has always made the stuff that gets me and our team genuinely excited to ride, and this is no different.” – Mehdi Farsi, Co-Founder of State Bicycle Co.
Elsewhere, the Road is treated to T47 threaded and a Universal Derailleur Hanger (UDH), with two models on offer, the standard and the more premium SL, which tips the scales at an impressive 820 grams in size medium.
The Road will initially be available as a frameset only, with pricing starting at a paltry $1,399.99 for the standard and $1,699.99 for the SL, while complete bikes will launch later this Spring with build options to be announced.
