Strava Adds Video Upload Feature

The ability to upload video is on its way for the global Strava user community over the next few weeks. As of today, all Strava users will be able to see videos in their feed but not everyone will be able to upload right away, as the new feature has a phased roll-out.

In the coming weeks, Strava users will note that video clips of up to 30 seconds can be added to activity uploads, and there’s no limit on how many videos that are included with posts on Strava.

If a video file is longer that 30 seconds, Strava will trim it automatically. Landscape and portrait orientations are both supported. Videos play auto-looped, and the ability to watch and upload videos is free for all athletes (i.e., not part of the subscription).

“On Strava, photos have been a way to amplify your activities and give the community a glimpse into your efforts. But sometimes you need a little more action to bring your movement to life. That’s why we’re rolling out a new video feature for all athletes over the next few weeks. (Yep, we heard your requests.),” says Strava.

Additionally, users can add videos just like photos by using the app to upload 30-second clips to any activity.

“Get out there on the roads, trails, ocean or mountains and give a behind the scenes look into your activities, wherever they take you,” exclaims Strava.

On Strava, photos have been a way to amplify your activities and give the community a glimpse into your efforts. But sometimes you need a little more action to bring your movement to life. That’s why we’re rolling out a new video feature for all athletes over the next few weeks. (Yep, we heard your requests.)

That’s right, video is coming your way. So make sure your app is updated to get access. If you don’t have it yet, sit tight! Soon you’ll be able to post multiple clips for any activity on the app. Need a little inspo? Take a look at views from Andrea Ference’s Swiss hike (https://www.strava.com/activities/7302034648), a peek of Hellah Sidibe’s run streak (https://www.strava.com/activities/7278152755) or Adrian Ballinger’s first-ever ski descent of Makalu (https://www.strava.com/activities/7116656184). Then, get out there on the roads, trails, ocean or mountains and give a behind the scenes look into your activities, wherever they take you.

So how does it work? Add videos just like photos by simply using the app to upload as many 30-second videos as you like to any activity. If your clip is longer, no sweat, we’ll auto-trim it for you.

Get ready to record. We can’t wait to see your efforts.
