After an unsuccessful bid during Sunday’s opening prologue, Meron Teshome (Eritrea) took solace in winning today’s stage 5 of the Tour du Rwanda, which finished along the Democratic Republic of the Congo’s majestic Lake Kivu.
“I had to forget my disappointment, declared the winner of the stage today after the finish. The whole team has worked for me and I had also to win for my teammates.”
Meanwhile, Jean Bosco Nsengimana managed to retain his grip on the overall race lead, after bringing home the lead group in second place – at just 2 seconds back.
The Tour du Rwanda continues tomorrow with stage 6, which will take the riders from Rubavu to Kigali – featuring a cobbled uphill finish.
