“Türkiye”: Bikepacking Turkey’s Aegean Coastline

The latest travel film from Restrap follows a group of six bikepackers on a 600-mile journey across Türkiye.

Following a route that brought them from the southern town of Dalaman to Istanbul in the north, they got a taste of the country’s vibrant present and rich history.

In keeping with what’s become a yearly tradition, the Restrap team headed out for a longer tour to test their bags in the real world and find ways to improve them. This time around, they headed to Türkiye for a 600-mile ride along the Aegean coastline. Six riders pedaled their way across the country from Dalaman in the south, spun up and over the mountains around Izmir, and eventually finished in the historic city of Istanbul.

In Restrap’s words, “We rode through small rural villages, olive groves, cotton fields and over mountains on gravel roads and farm tracks, while cycling past ancient ruins and historic sites that revealed Turkey’s rich and diverse history. With this tour promising to be dry and dusty with unpaved roads and tracks, we geared our bikes towards being able to handle the rough stuff. The film is the latest in our ‘Thank You’ series documenting Restrap’s tours around the world where we put ourselves and our kit to the test, experiencing the joys of bikepacking and cycle touring while hunting for the best cycling roads across the world.”
