VanMoof Rises from the Ashes with New S6 E-Bikes

It’s been three years since VanMoof went defunct. However, after being rescued from bankruptcy by the British company McLaren Applied, the Dutch brand has finally risen from the ashes with the launch of its new S6 e-bikes.

According to VanMoof, the S6 claims to be its most sophisticated model to date, building on 11 years of experience developing e-bikes and leveraging its new owners’ engineering expertise, earning the pedalec this year’s prestigious Gold iF Design Award, with the jury noting “the design pays homage to the liberating feeling of urban mobility”.

Offered in two guises, the S6 and the S6 Open, the models are designed for riders both big and small, featuring VanMoof’s latest tech, such as a Boost Button, which gives riders extra power at the touch of a button, while the Gen 6 Kick Lock is notably faster to engage as well as more sturdy and waterproof. Plus, VanMoof’s renowned Anti-Theft System also received a significant upgrade, with more granular location tracking, along with Apple Find My capabilities.

Additionally, the S6 also sees an upgraded Control Core, VanMoof’s foolproof and extremely reliable Autoshift Hub, while an optional Suspension Seatpost with 30mm of travel helps riders conquer even the most rugged urban terrain in comfort.

Eliott Wertheimer, CEO of VanMoof: “After a couple of years of intense product engineering, focusing on enhancing VanMoof’s magic while anchoring it in reliability, our team is immensely proud to bring the S6 to market. From customers and retailers’ reviews, to the specialized and tech press, as well as multiple awards, the S6 has smashed our wildest expectations, leading to European sales outperforming all our forecasts since launch.”

As mentioned, the S6 is available in two models: the S6 with its 27.5-inch wheels or the smaller step-through S6 Open, which uses 24-inch wheels.

Both are available to order for £3,098, in a choice of three colors, Electric Blue, Drift Black and Pearl Mint, along with a three-year warranty.
