Verve Cycling is teasing enthusiasts with the unveiling of latest power meter called the InfoCrank IC2, touting a new modular design and increased accuracy thanks to improved electronics and ANT+ and BLE connectively.
“The InfoCrank is already renowned by the best in the business for its accuracy and this new crank is no different in terms of the quality of data. However, the redesign has been ground up – new crank arms, proprietary BB spindle, improved connectivity and electronics – this is the only power meter you’ll ever need. And with its modular design, it will be easily switchable between different disciplines, with additional spiders for off-road and track disciplines in development,” boasts Verve.
The InfoCrank measures torque and cadence instantaneously from directly within the crankarms to actually calculate rider power output. This contrasts with other power meters that measure multiple forces and use algorithms to provide a non-instantaneous, averaged and derived power number. Moreover, the crankarm design and placement of the strain gauge fully isolates and measures the force propelling the rider forward. Also, by taking measurements from within the crank arms in this way, the IC2 can provide accurate and comparable results in all conditions – regardless of the temperature, surface, gradient or any other variables known to affect other power meters. This also means, owners don’t have to continually remember to recalibrate and re-zero the InfoCrank to assure its accuracy.
With only 500 units available in the first run, with a 15% savings is being offered on the first 100 cranks sold. So, customers will pay $842 compared to the final retail price of $990. The next 150 will sell for 10% off, while the last 250 will get 5% off.
