Whether you’re someone who embraces tubeless wheel technology or not, there’s no denying it’s continued emergence on both the recreational, as well as the race scene.
Capitalizing on this trend, Vittoria has expanded upon its successful range of Qurano carbon tubular wheelsets, to include new 30C, 46C and 60C tubeless models.
The launch of the new Qurano’s coincided with this year’s Taipei Bike Week, which according to Vittoria, encompass the same technology as their existing tubular range, offering the same level of lateral stiffness, spoke hole strength, material strength and impact strength.
In addition, they also feature Vittoria’s Graphene braking surface, which effectively eliminates excess heat build-up that can potentially lead to disastrous consequences under extreme braking conditions.
According to Vittoria, they followed both the strict standards set forth by ISO, as well as the updated UCI regulation for non-standard wheels, as the guidelines for creating the specifications for the new Qurano tubeless range.
However, Vittoria says, rather than simply meeting the standards, they actually exceeded them.
To wit:
The ISO-determined communications regarding rider weight limits do not apply to the Qurano carbon clincher range. The new wheels are designed to closely resemble the behaviour of tubular tires in the occurrence of a puncture, allowing a rider to come to a carefully controlled stop safely. The Speedlock design of the rim profile, in combination with Vittoria’s optimized design for tire beads prevent a critical separation in most circumstances, significantly reducing risk and improving rider safety. The wheels are also tubeless ready and designed to work with the Graphene-enhanced Corsa Speed tire launched by Vittoria in 2015.
Additionally, the range incorporates Vittoria’s Speedlock technology, which is designed to create a perfect interface between the rim and tubeless tire in the event of a puncture.
Vittoria says, the tubeless Qurano wheels will be available next month, with the 30C coming in at 1850€, while the 46C will set you back 1950€, and 2100€ for the 60C.
All wheels will come with tubeless tape pre-installed.
