To celebrate the new year, Wahoo has announced the launch of its new TICKR FIT wearable heart rate tracker, which does anyway with traditional heart rate straps.
According to Wahoo, the TICKR FIT moves heart rate monitoring to the forearm, where the company claims it can deliver data with equal accuracy as a chest strap. In addition, the new wearable device can also provide caloric burn data, along with Bluetooth and ANT+ support so users can pair it with a whole host of fitness apps, smartphones, GPS bike computers and sports watches.
Weighing a mere 19 grams, the TICKR FIT is available in two adjustable bands (small and large), which feature a rechargeable battery and custom magnetic USB recharging cable that’s capable of providing more than 30 hours of battery life. Moreover, the monitor is rated to IPX7 water resistant, so cyclists won’t have to worry about getting caught in the wet.
Other features include Apple Watch integration so users can gather heart rate data in the Apple Workout app, while it will also work with Wahoo’s 7 Minute Workout, RunFit and Beachbody on Demand apps to use it with an Apple TV.
The TICKR FIT sells for $79.99, and it’s available directly from Wahoo’s website.
