Wahoo Updates Elemnt ROAM and BOLT Computers Plus All-New Trackr Radar Rear Light

Wahoo has updated its Elemnt ROAM and BOLT computers, plus has added an all-new Trackr Radar rear light that offers vehicle detection.

Now dubbed the ROAM 3, the computer has been treated to a new touchscreen, along with a slight increase in size, while the smaller BOLT 3 receives a similar screen update, albeit sans the touchscreen.

However, Wahoo has dropped the LED indicators that ran along the bezel of outgoing devices to make way for the larger screens, adding pinch, zoom and swipe capabilities, while relying on just three soft-function buttons on the bottom of the device, two toggle buttons and a power button. The computers also keep the click-mount interface.

Elsewhere, navigation and mapping functions have been improved, as well as updated voice prompts and a longer battery life that can last up to 25 hours for the ROAM 3 and 17 hours for the BOLT 3.

The ROAM 3 and BOLT 3 will be available starting on May 6, which will sell for $449.99 and $329.99, respectively.

As for the Trackr Radar, the new device is designed to seamlessly integrate with the Elemnt computers, offering the following functions for $200.

  • Direct Vehicle Warning: Detects cars approaching from behind, increasing the frequency/intensity of its flashing pattern to increase the cyclist’s visibility.
  • Brake Light: Works as a conventional brake light via a built-in accelerometer, increasing taillight brightness when the rider quickly slows down.
  • On-GPS Vehicle Warning: Trackr Radar seamlessly connects to their Element family of GPS cycling computers “for the ultimate user experience”. But it also connects to any other “compatible Bluetooth or ANT+ bike computers”, plus vehicle approaching warnings.
  • Battery Extender Mode: A special mode will allow the radar to reduce taillight brightness when no cars are approaching to extend battery life for up to 20 hours of riding with continuous Direct and On-GPS vehicle approaching warnings
  • Easy Attach: The Trackr Radar attaches to the seat post with a standard rubber band strap mount.
